Sodium L-(+)-tartrate is used as an emulsifier, as a food additives, binding agent in food products like jellies, margarine and sausage casings. It is utilized as a common primary standard for Karl Fischer titration to measure the water content. It is also used as buffers for molecular biology and cell culture applications.

Suitable for Karl Fischer reagent standardization.Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
