Ephrin type-B receptor 6 (EPHB6) belongs to Ephrin receptors family, which make up the largest subgroup of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) family. They are divided into the ephrin-A (EFNA) and ephrin-B (EFNB) based on their structures, and sequence of their extracellular domain sequences. EFNA is anchored to the membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage. EFNB, which are transmembrane proteins. They have varying affinities for binding ephrin-A and ephrin-B ligands. EPHB6 gene is mapped to human chromosome 7q34. EPHB6 is majorly expressed in thymus and nervous system. It has a cytoplasmic kinase domain.

EPHB6 (NP_004436, 23 a.a. ~ 122 a.a) partial recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

EPHB6 modulates T cell response by inhibiting the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) pathway. Phosphorylation of tyrosine residue in Ephrin type-B receptor 6 (EPHB6) is crucial for de-adhesion functionality. EPHB6 devoid of kinase domain favors adhesion and cell migration. Malignant glioma cells show expression of the alternative spliced EphB6 variant. EPHB6 is overexpressed in breast cancer cell lines and prostate cancer. It inhibits tumor invasion. Expression of EphB6 suppresses tumor growth in neuroblastoma.
