| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | Absent in melanoma 2 (AIM2) is induced by IFN-γ. The probable roles of AIM2 are regulation of cell proliferation, inflammation and benign prostate hyperplasia. It also suppresses proliferation and tumorigenicity of human breast cancer cells. AIM2 is a suppressor of melanoma tumorigenicity. AIM2 is up-regulated in humans with hepatitis B virus-associated glomerulonephritis. AIM2 expression was positively correlated with caspase-1 and IL (Interleukin)-1β expression. AIM2 is also a component of inflammasome and can sense cytoplasmic DNA, causing activation of ASC (apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD) pyroptosome and caspase-1. |
