MAFK (P18, NFE2U) codes for a transcription factor that enhances CBP-mediated p65 acetylation, which subsequently modulates NF-kB function. Mafk has also been implicated in the regulation of response to ROS homeostasis. Studies in porphyric zebrafish have revealed that Mafk is involved in the modulation of peptidase precursor genes.
