| General description【一般描述】 | NIMA-related Kinase 7/never in mitosis A-related kinase 7 (NEK7), a serine/threonine kinase belongs to the NIMA-related protein kinase (NEK) family. It is the smallest NIMA-related kinase (NEK) protein seen in mammals, which is made up of a catalytic domain with a 30–40 amino acid N-terminal extension. NEK7 is abundantly expressed in the heart, liver, testis, lung, muscle, brain, spleen, and leukocyte. The NEK7 gene is located on human chromosome 1. |

In addition to the pathological and physiological effects, NEK7 is also involved in the formation of the spindle during mitosis. It is expressed at a high level in gallbladder cancer. NEK7 controls cytokinesis and stability of the microtubule. It can activate the spindle assembly checkpoint. NEK7 might also be associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). |
