Pregnancy-specific β 1-glycoproteins (PSGs), related to the carcinoembryonic antigen family, are major placental, syncytiotrophoblast derived, polypeptides also found in the bloodstream in late pregnancy. Pregnancy specific β-1-glycoprotein 3 (PSG3) is believed to have an embryotrophic role during pregnancy. Expression of PSG3 along with PSG1 and PSG5 may be early markers for trophblast differentiation.

Anti-PSG3 polyclonal antibody is used to tag pregnancy specific β-1-glycoprotein 3 for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in plasma by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the roles of pregnancy specific β-1-glycoprotein 3 in placenta and embryonic development.
