This enzyme is responsible for catalyzing the third step in wybutosine biosynthetic pathway. In cancer, up-regulation of this gene leads to disruption in SMG1 protein function, which is a part of nonsense mediated decay pathway (NMD). Thus, it might contribute to the escape of damaged DNA from checkpoints. |
