白细胞介素-4(IL-4)是一种多效细胞因子，可调节多种 T细胞和B细胞反应，包括将初始 T细胞分化为TH2 表型，促进 B细胞增殖、抗体同种型转换和其他 TH2细胞因子(包括IL-5和IL-9)的表达。^1,2 IL-4在过敏性炎症和哮喘的发生中起关键作用。³

IL-4 与两种不同的受体结合；I型受体，由IL-4Rα 链和常见 γ 链组成的异二聚体，γc，和II型受体，IL-4Rα和IL-13Rα的异二聚体。⁴

天然存在的IL-4分子质量为12-20 kDa。重组人IL-4是含有129个氨基酸残基的14.9kDa蛋白质。人和小鼠 IL-4 具有50％的氨基酸序列同源性，但它们的生物学作用是物种特异性的。⁵

淋巴因子对免疫活性细胞的生长和分化具有明显的影响，抑制 VEGF和βFGF 诱导的血管生成。
