Cytochrome P450 11B1, mitochondrial (EC1.14.15.4, EC1.14.15.5; UniProt P15538; also known as CYPXIB1, Cytochrome P-450c11, Cytochrome P450C11, Cytochrome P450 subfamily XIB polypeptide 1, Cytochrome P450 XIB1, Steroid 11-beta-monooxygenase, Steroid 11-beta-hydroxylase) is encoded by the CYP11B1 (Also known as CPN1, CYP11B, FHI, P450C11, S11BH) gene in human (Gene ID 1584). CYP11B1 protein is a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of monooxygenases that catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. It is localized to the inner mitochondrial membrane and mediates the conversion of progesterone to cortisol in the adrenal cortex. CYP11B1 gene mutations are known causes of adrenal hyperplasia 4 (AH4), a form of congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to defective synthesis of cortisol.

Anti-CYP11B1 Antibody, clone 80-7 is an antibody against CYP11B1 for use in Western Blotting and Immunohistochemistry.
Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL from a representative lot detected exogenously expressed human CYP11B1, but not CYP11B1 in 10 µg of HEK293 cell lysate.
Western Blotting Analysis: A representative lot detected transfected CYP11B1 in HEK293 cells and endogenous CYP11B1 in mitochondrial preparation from human adrenocortical cell line HAC15 (Gomez-Sanchez, C.E., et al. 2014 Mol. Cell. Endocrinol. 383(1-2):111-117).
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A representative lot detected CYP11B1 in normal human adrenal tissue.

Evaluated by Western Blotting in PC12 cell lysate.
