| General description【一般描述】 | Trisomy of human chromosome 21 result in patients with Down′s syndrome, which is a complex developmental and neurodegenerative disease that is characterized with abnormal morphological features, hypotonia, and mental retardation. The DSCR3 (Down syndrome critical region gene 3) gene is found in this region. DSCR3 expresses Down syndrome critical region protein 3, which is reportedly expressed in many studied tissues. While it is suggested that this protein is involved in neuroexcitation and in cellular signaling, further study is still required to elucidate its role and mechanism of action. |
