This novel anti-aging protein aids to maintain mitochondrial activities and enhance mitochondrial health. Since SESN2 is capable of protecting tissues from oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction caused by ischemia or reperfusion (I/R), it may be a promising therapeutic target in hepatic regeneration. |
